Adhesions
2026
Work in progress about endometriosis adhesions.
Endometriosis adhesions are bands of fibrous scar tissue that cause internal organs and tissues to stick together. Adhesions act like sticky glue or cobwebs, binding areas that are normally separated. Endometriosis causes tissue similar to the lining of the uterus to grow outside the uterus. These growths bleed and cause local inflammation during a menstrual cycle, and the body builds scar tissue as it tries to heal. They frequently connect the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, bladder, and bowels to each other or to the pelvic wall.
