Neus Torres Tamarit Art Portfolio

I'm a multimedia artist working at the intersection of art, science, and technology, with a focus on public engagement. My practice explores genetics, evolution, and environment, translating biological processes into installations that combine sculpture, digital media, and interactivity. Working without material constraints, I focus on showing evolutionary mechanisms at human timescales via animated and interactive systems, inviting audiences to see the emergence of complex behaviours from simple mechanisms. My artistic practice is highly collaborative: I work closely with scientists and researchers. In 2016, I co-founded Phenotypica Art and Science with data scientist Ben Murray.

I have been working and exhibiting internationally since 2007. My earlier work (2007-2015) was developed independently and explored the private space and the interplay between objective information and subjective perception, realised through materials ranging from recycled furniture, textiles, iron, photographs on textile, to video creation and animation. From childhood, I have always had a strong interest in science as well as in art. Studying the MA in Art and Science at Central Saint Martins (2017, Distinction), allowed me to combine my two passions and transition toward a collaborative practice. Since then, some projects are developed collaboratively with Ben Murray through Phenotypica, while others remain individual work, often as part of scientific residencies and commissions.

I combine my artistic practice with the curation of exhibitions.

Originally from Valencia (Spain), I live and work in London, and I'm a member of the Royal Society of Sculptors.
